Oil Migration

Answers:

  1. The oil rises because it is lighter than water.
  2. Prerequisites are a mature source rock to form oil and porous and permeable rocks adjacent to the source to allow the oil to migrate upward.
  3. The oil would only rise to the clay layer because clay is impermeable.
