Oil in our Everyday Life

Expected Responses:

  1. The electric lamp gave the best light.
  2. Electricity is the cleanest source of light.
  3. The candle burns, in the presence of oxygen, by vaporizing the wax and burning the gasses. This is similar to what happens when a match burns; the process of combustion is the same but the fuel is different.
  4. Again the process is similar; the kerosene is vaporized and the gasses burn. The kerosene rises through the wick by capillary action.
  5. The chemical element is carbon.
  6. The light bulb glows because of the electrical resistance of the filament. There is no fuel burning inside the bulb.
